Celebrating the Success of International Day of Persons with Disabilities 2024

Thaaikarangal Charitable Trust is elated to share the grand success of our "Celebration of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities", held on Sunday, 15th December 2024, at the prestigious Dwaraka Auditorium, D.G. Vaishnav College, Chennai.

This momentous occasion, graced by the presence of our esteemed Chief Guest, Dr. S. Asokan, Director & CEO, GEM Hospital, and distinguished Special Invitees, was a testament to the power of inclusion and the incredible talents of persons with disabilities.

Highlights of the Day

Morning Session

  • Sports Competitions: The visually impaired students showcased unparalleled determination and athletic prowess.
  • Quiz Competition: A riveting and inspiring quiz involving visually impaired groups.

Afternoon Session

  • Art Programs and Competitions: Vibrant art-related activities celebrating creativity and skill.

Evening Session

  • Art Performances: Spectacular performances by visually impaired individuals, leaving the audience in awe.
  • Award Ceremony:
  • Rama Ramachandran Memorial Best Reader Award: Presented to Mrs. Shyla Vishwanathan, an inspiring advocate for the visually impaired for over 25 years.
  • Uma Srinivasan Memorial Olirum Nakchathram Award: Presented to Ms. Oviya, a trailblazing visually impaired achiever who has set a remarkable example by writing her exams independently.

The day concluded with a heartfelt Presentation of Souvenirs and Dinner, marking a beautiful end to an unforgettable celebration.
