Successful Girivalam Trip for Visually Challenged: A Heartfelt Thank You to Organizers and Supporters

We have just completed a successful trip to Thiruvannamalai’s Girivalam program for the Visually challenged people. On behalf of the Thai Karangal Charitable trust, We are writing this letter to express our sincere gratitude to the organizers, sponsors and the volunteer’s without whom this success would not have been possible.
From the beginning to the end, time management was the key aspect of this trip. In spite of some unexpected interruptions in terms of political rally etc, the organizers played an amazing role in maintaining the time schedule. So a big kudos to them.
It is not easy to organize even a small group of visually challenged people for temple visits, Transport facility, Girivalam etc, the organizers, sponsors and the volunteer’s by organizing 140 visually challenged persons have proved that “yes we can”. Their commitment in organizing this trip was commendable and every beneficiary of this trip was full of praise.
Another notable point is the manner in which this event becoming a platform in creating awareness about visually challenged persons and their ability to be fully functional individuals like sighted persons. We would like to cite an example for the successful local awareness:
When we were in the middle of the Girivalam, a State Transport bus approached us. As the transport staff begun to learn about this venture of the visually challenged persons, they followed us almost for 4 KM and learnt about this Girivalam trip. They were impressed so much that the bus conductor instantly handed over RS 1000 to the Thai Karangal trust for utilizing it towards refreshment for the participents of this trip.
The volunteers almost became like family and one could easily observe a great chemistry between the volunteer’s and the visually challenged participents of this trip. At every level, they acted like a troop of army in understanding the needs of the participents, guiding them in a systematic way during the temple visit and the Girivalam.
Last but not the least, A big Kudos to the staff of the Nattukottai Chettinadu Chathram. They were extremely courteous in welcoming us and their hospitality simply blew us away! Thank you everyone for your wonderful support in making this trip a great success.
