Successful Celebration of International Day of Persons with Disabilities by Thaaikarangal Charitable Trust!
We are delighted to announce the resounding success of our Disabled People's Day festival, which took place on January 28th at the Kola Perumal Chetty School Campus in Arumbakkam, Chennai. This event, held in commemoration of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, marked our 12th year of hosting this joyous celebration.
The day was brimming with various activities, including sports competitions, artistic contests, and quiz competitions, providing a vibrant platform for visually impaired students to showcase their exceptional talents. The evening's closing ceremony was graced by esteemed dignitaries, who awarded prizes to winners and presented welfare assistance to deserving visually impaired individuals.
In particular, we were honored to recognize Mrs. Mangai Krishnasamy for her outstanding contribution to uplifting the visually impaired community over the past 40 years. She received the Best Reader Award, and we extend our heartfelt congratulations to her. Additionally, the prestigious Best Blind Sportsman Award was bestowed upon Mr. S. Maharaja from Tirunelveli. This distinguished recognition was accorded to him for his remarkable achievement in being selected to represent the Indian blind cricket team, showcasing his exceptional talent on an international stage, including a noteworthy journey playing for India in England.
The event witnessed the participation of visually impaired students, graduates, self-employed individuals, organizations dedicated to the visually impaired, and volunteers, making it a truly inclusive gathering.
Our gratitude goes out to everyone who attended and participated in this event, contributing to its success and making it a memorable day for all involved. A special acknowledgment to those who supported the transport arrangements for visually impaired students.
Looking ahead, we anticipate hosting more events that promote inclusivity and celebrate the abilities of individuals with visual impairments. Stay tuned for updates on our upcoming initiatives!
